I first learned web development as an educator.
For many years I developed texts, workbooks, handouts and simple brochures and ads for two different schools.
As an educator, I was producing a lot of material for students and parents to read on websites, and then got into Content Management Systems and Learning Management systems, as well as database-dependent online tests. This process developed slowly over a decade, and I learned from other people, from self-study, and from doing two online degrees.
Later, I did eight years of non-profit development and promotional work, and continued to produce many kinds of printed materials. I learned how to use Adobe products to produce nice looking layouts.
So I began in print media and pdfs and then began producing web pages and HTML-based emails.
For the past few years, I've worked full-time at producing web-based resources for education and marketing. I know how to create web pages in Drupal, WordPress, Websphere and to support them with good graphics, simple animations and videos.
